80 x 60cm, chalk pastels, charcoal and residue on stretched canvas (2023)
For this painting I collaborated with the wildlife and human traffic of the square I was documenting called Piazza 8 d'Agosto. The process meant drawing in chalk pastel different perspectives on the same square, leaving the painting on the floor for natural decay from both human and animal interaction with it in between each layer. Not only different sides of the square appear but also different groups of inhabitants interact with it to allow its creation. I fixed each layer with charcoal fixative spray before moving to the next to preserve the different textures created, so later, they could interact once superimposed on each other.
